Advantages

Good solubility
L-calcium Lactate uses thermally controlled crystallization and spray-drying processes to optimize the particle structure. It can dissolve quickly in hot water and slowly in cold water to form a clear solution, which is suitable for applications in aqueous systems such as beverages.

High absorption rate
Thanks to its L-type structure and excellent solubility, the calcium absorption rate of L-calcium Lactate is about 30% higher than that of calcium carbonate, which can more effectively meet the calcium needs of the human body, especially for children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

Good optical purity
Made from high-purity L-lactic acid, L-calcium Lactate has an optical purity of ≥96%, has a high affinity to the human body, is not prone to producing calcium deposition, and is more suitable for long-term calcium supplementation.

Production process

1. Biological Fermentation Method
This method uses specific microorganisms to ferment glucose and produce high-quality L-Lactic Acid Calcium.

Step 1: Strain Selection
Strains such as Rhizopus oryzae and Lactobacillus spp. are commonly used. Rhizopus oryzae is especially preferred for producing high-purity results.

Step 2: Fermentation Conditions

  • Spore concentration: 1.8 × 10⁴ spores/mL
  • Shaking speed: 200 rpm
  • Temperature: 34 °C
  • Glucose concentration: 80 g/L
  • Duration: Approximately 72 hours
  • Additive: Calcium carbonate is added during fermentation to regulate pH levels.

Step 3: Post-Fermentation Processing

The broth is filtered and decolorized using activated carbon. It is then concentrated at 70 °C and crystallized at 4 °C. Crystals are filtered, washed, and dried to produce the final product.

Pentahydrate Form Preparation
Calcined calcium oxide (CaO) is reacted with an 80% L-lactic acid solution. The mixture is filtered, concentrated, crystallized, and washed with anhydrous ethanol. The final white crystals are then dried.

2. Chemical Synthesis Method
This method involves a direct chemical reaction between lactic acid and a calcium source.

Step 1: Raw Materials
Lactic acid

Calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide

Step 2: Reaction Process
Lactic acid is mixed with the calcium source under controlled temperature and stirring to form L-Lactic Acid Calcium. The pH must be properly managed to ensure optimal yield.

Step 3: Separation and Purification
The resulting precipitate is filtered and washed to remove impurities. Drying is done at moderate temperatures to maintain product integrity.

Step 4: Packaging
The dried product is securely packaged to preserve its quality and extend shelf life.

3. Other Production Methods
High-Temperature Calcination
Calcium carbonate derived from eggshells is calcined and then reacted with lactic acid at around 35 °C. The mixture is crystallized, washed, and dried to obtain high-purity L-Lactic Acid Calcium.

Ultrasound-Assisted Method
This technique uses ultrasonic waves to enhance the reaction process. By optimizing parameters such as liquid-to-solid ratio, acid concentration, and ultrasonic intensity, this method improves efficiency and product yield, especially when using eggshell-derived calcium.
